WIP Wednesday: It will be a scarf someday edition

Happy Wednesday! My life has become significantly more interesting lately, as I’m going to be moving at the end of the month, but I’m still chugging away on projects while I pack (or, really, while I “supervise” David packing – I’m such an awful mover!).

Inchies at The Daily Inchie

My favorite inchie over the past week is definitely my Deathly Hallows inchie:

David and I finally went to see Part 2 on Saturday – what an awesome movie! I loved the way Poppy Seed stitched up on this one.

Other Projects โ€“ Ongoing

Sheep Mandala:

I think I’m stalling out on this one because it’s fairly repetative, and I am a total new-junkie. I know it’s going to look adorable when it’s done, though, so I will persevere!

David’s Scarf:

Finished the set-up row and started on the first real row of the ubiquitous Entrelac Scarf, except I’m using lace weight merino, size 0 needles, and 9 repeats instead of 3. But, seriously, it will be a scarf someday! ๐Ÿ™‚

Blackbird Designs Stocking Series: Didn’t work on this recently.

Other Projects – New

Subversive Cross Stitch: Cross Bitch

Grabbed a copy of the Subversive Cross Stitch book while I was in Vancouver a few weeks ago for Sock Summit, and decided I didn’t want to wait for one of my current projects to be finished before I started this one (rekeyed for some of my handspun threads, Rustic, Calypso, and Fertility). I’ll have a review of the book in the next week or so, but in the meantime here’s my short summary: I love this book! ๐Ÿ™‚

WIP Wednesday – 07.20.2011 Edition

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to talk about WIPs! I’m really glad I added this feature to the blog, if for no other reason than I occasionally think “Oh, crap, it’s almost Wednesday, I better pull that project out and get to stitching!” ๐Ÿ™‚

Inchies at The Daily Inchie

I think my favorite inchie from the last week is actually the one I made just yesterday: my Google+ inchie:

As more of my friends (and favorite people) have started migrating to Google+, I’ve spent more and more time there, and less and less on Facebook, so I figured my new obsession deserved an inchie all it’s own.

Other Projects – Ongoing

Very little progress on my Sheep Mandala this week – finished the flower in the lower left and started work on the 3rd sheep:

I really need to put more work into this one soon, so I can move on to another project for October’s open house!

Other Projects – New

Two new projects this week – First, I’m starting on the Blackbird Designs Stocking series – first up is “In The Days of Auld Sang Lyne” (stitched on 40 count Lakeside Linen in Light Exampler 1 over 2 with the called for overdyed threads):

Second, I started knitting again (I know, crazy, right?) – I’m still swatching, so for now I’ll leave you with a pretty yarn photo:

I’m kind of funny when it comes to knitting – while I generally don’t knit with my thread, I don’t like to knit with anything bigger than lace weight yarn. I’m thinking this skein will be a nice, long scarf for me! The yarn is Filigran Lace No 1 in colorway Taiga. If you are in the Seattle area, this yarn is currently 20% off at Weaving Works – if you like working with soft merino singles, go grab a skein or 12 ๐Ÿ™‚

WIP Wednesday!

You know what day it is!

Inchies at The Daily Inchie

From my 29th to my 30th birthday, Iโ€™m creating a new needlework inchie every day. This week, my favorite has been my Vibrant Tapestry Sampler Inchie:

Vibrant Tapestry is my favorite colorway from this month’s crop of new threads (and yes, this whole thing was stitched with one colorway!), but the other reason I love this one is that I was actually able to capture some of the shine of the thread in the photo, which is something I always struggle with.

Other Projects

More progress on my Sheep Mandala – Sheep #1 has a friend!

Extreme center section close-up (cuz, really, why not? ๐Ÿ™‚ ):

If you would like to stitch up your own Sheep Mandala using my conversion, leave a comment below or email me at liz@dragonflylotusdesigns.com and Iโ€™ll send it right over to you!
